This policy explains what happens to the information you give Speechmade. We have tried to write it plainly. The short version is that we use your answers to write your speech, we send them to Anthropic because their AI writes it, and we delete them automatically after 30 days.
Who we are
Speechmade is a trading name of Kreativity Marketing Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [company number], registered office [registered address]). We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

What we collect
Your answers
To write your speech, we ask you questions about yourself and the people you are speaking about, such as names, stories and what they are like. We also record the speech type, tone and length you choose. The speech we write, and any rewrites you ask for, are stored with your answers.
Your answers will often include information about other people, such as the couple getting married or someone who has died. Please only include what you are comfortable with and what is needed for the speech. Eulogy answers can sometimes include details of someone's health. We don't ask for this, and you don't need to include it to get a good eulogy.
Your email address and payment
Payments are taken by Stripe. When you pay, Stripe gives us your email address so we can send you a copy of your speech, along with a record that the payment was made. We never see or store your card details.
Your IP address
To stop the service being misused, we limit how many speech previews can be written from one internet connection each day. To do this we store your IP address with a daily count, and it is deleted automatically after about a day. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, also processes IP addresses to keep the site secure and working.
Information saved on your device
While you fill in the questions, your answers are saved in your own browser (using local storage) so you can come back to them later. This stays on your device and is not sent to us until you press the button to write your speech. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Cookies and analytics
If you agree when we ask, we use Google Analytics to see how people use the site, such as which guides are read and
how many people go on to write a speech. Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and
_ga_ followed by a code) that last for up to two years. We don't send Google your answers, your speech,
your name or your email address, and we remove the private part of speech links before anything is sent.
If you say no, Google Analytics isn't loaded and no analytics cookies are set. Your choice is remembered in your browser. You can change it at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.
We don't use advertising cookies. Stripe may set its own cookies on its payment page to prevent fraud.

We don't send marketing emails, and we don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of companies to run Speechmade. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Anthropic. Your speech is written by AI, using Claude, a model made by Anthropic. To write it, we send your answers and your chosen tone and length to Anthropic. When you ask for a rewrite, we send your answers, the current speech and your instruction. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, information sent through their API is not used to train their models. Anthropic may keep it for a limited period for safety and misuse monitoring, as described in Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Stripe processes your payment. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Postmark sends the email with your speech.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and stores your speech and answers.
- Google provides Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
Some of these companies are based in the United States or process information there. Where information is sent outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Your answers, your speech and your email address are deleted automatically 30 days after you first ask us to write the speech, whether or not you paid.
- The daily preview count linked to your IP address is deleted after about a day.
- Payment records are kept by Stripe and in our accounts for six years, because tax law requires it. These records don't include your answers or your speech.
- If you email us, we keep the conversation for as long as we need to help you, and no longer than two years.
If you would like your speech and answers deleted sooner, email us with the link to your speech and we will delete them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to ask for it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email hello@speechmade.co.uk. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Age
Speechmade is intended for adults. You need to be 18 or over to buy a speech.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
